My first service by Banister went really well. Cory was terrific and helpful when discussing the appointment, and Brenden helped me understand the operation of my cars many features. I was pleased that my car was cleaned when I picked it up. The only thing stopping me from giving 5 stars was not having the option of a loaner car. Because I’m traveling to Kamloops from 3 hours away, having to wait for a shuttle and find something to do within walking distance for 2 1/2 hours was inconvenient. Other than that, I was really happy with my service.
Had great dealings with the Salesman, Ian Holmes, he was very helpful and easy to work with. Made my purchase go smoothly. Chris McLeod in Finance was also very easy to work with. Overall a very smooth transaction and I am very satisfied with the service received overall

I purchased my 2017 Hyundai Elantra GL new from Bannister Hyundai Kamloops and also paid $2,761.50 for Hyundai’s extended warranty (8 years / 160,000 km) back in 2017. All scheduled maintenance was completed at this dealership as required.
Shortly after 100,000 km—while the extended warranty was still active—the vehicle began experiencing serious issues including excessive oil consumption, stalling, loss of power, warning lights, and unstable engine operation. The vehicle now requires frequent oil refilling under normal city driving.
Despite these ongoing issues, I was repeatedly told the oil consumption was “within standards” and that no warranty coverage applied. After multiple diagnostic appointments, I was told they couldn’t find the issue and that there was nothing they could do. Hyundai has since reinforced its position that these conditions are considered normal. Compounding the issue, I was incorrectly told on multiple occasions that my extended warranty had already expired when it had not. As a result, I paid thousands of dollars out of pocket for diagnostics and repairs that should have been reviewed under the coverage I paid for. A goodwill engine replacement request was submitted (as the Fixed Operations Manager agreed this was very unusual for a car of this age) and declined, and Hyundai has refused to reimburse the unused extended warranty.
If this level of oil consumption and engine behaviour is considered normal for a well-maintained vehicle just over 100,000 km, that is information customers deserve to know before purchasing a Hyundai or paying extra for an extended warranty. So far, Hyundai has not provided any meaningful resolution.
I am still open to resolving this directly, but based on my experience, I would caution others to ask very detailed questions about oil consumption, engine longevity expectations, and warranty coverage before purchasing here.
I had an emergency engine issue while traveling from Vancouver to Calgary, and Alexa Maric at Bannister Hyundai Kamloops was an absolute lifesaver. My engine needed a full replacement, which was a devastating situation to be in, but Alexa went above and beyond to support us.
She didn't just manage the repairs; she treated us like family—helping us find transportation back to Calgary, advising us on local safety, and even coordinating a pickup from the bus stop when I returned a month later to collect my car.

I unfortunately had mechanical trouble with my 2021 Hyundai Palisade near this dealership, instead of being told the truth, I was pressured and manipulated into leaving with a much smaller hyundai Tuscan. My loan was very conveniently maxed to the limit with exaggerated additional services I never actually recieved and I was smiled at and sent on my way while sobbing under duress. Having safe space to regulate and clearly look through my bill of sale, after the fact, with another dealership who has been keeping notes for over 3 years on the unethical practices of this dealership and others managed by the same man in Kamloops, I can see the abuse that was done to me in my time of vulnerability and distress. I do not suggest anyone choose to purchase a new vehicle from any Bannister owned dealership in Kamloops managed by the same man who is encouraging staff to be dishonest with customers about services and industry standard pricing.
I had such a great experience at the Bannister Hyundai. Jon and the sales team were fantastic and supportive every step of the way! They provide a lot of great options to ensure vehicle safety and hooked me up with some great winter tires! I can't recommend buying a car there enough!
When a catastrophic engine event occurred in our 2016 Santa Fe this summer, interrupting a planned 2500 km road trip, our nearest Hyundai dealership was Bannister in Kamloops BC and that turned out to be a very good bit of luck. Their team successfully guided us thru the tangled path of seeking a replacement engine through Hyundai Canada's warranty extension/settlement. The team representative, Kelsey B., that talked and texted us thru the process, as we continued our trip in a rental car was compassionate, knowledgeable and prompt with correspondence. The technical shop team that found secondary damage generated during the towing process are to be thanked also. We're now 3 months after the replacement engine and steering repairs, and loving the drive in this 'old car'.
I never write reviews but I had to about this dealership because it was awful on my end. I inquired about a vehicle, get in touch with Chris the finance manager and begin the steps to run my credit and he’s like “I’ll call you tomorrow” and he never did and then it was Remembrance Day long weekend and I’m like okay he’s got so days off I’ll call and leave a message. Called 5-6 times over a 1-2 week period nothing, left voicemails still nothing. Regardless if I got approved I should still be informed. Soooo if you want a place that’s takes your credit info and runs it and never speaks to you again choose Kamloops Hyundai for all you needs cause that’s some BS. Especially if someone has bad credit that blows; just bad business practice overall. Would not recommend

Once you bought the car, you are an orphan!
The sales team is 5-star. The car itself is ok, bought a brand new car 6 months ago, and already has had 2 electric problems, and the service team is unable to fix it thoroughly.
The service side is pretty horrible, especially compared with Honda. Never call you when your service is up. And terrible at communicating, sounds like annoyed all the time, no spare car provided, basically, you have to instruct and follow up on everything by yourself, and the problem won't be solved most of the time.
Won't choose Hyundai again based on horrible customer service. It is painful seasonally to deal with the Hyundai service department.
You would think after spending $50,000+ on a new car, the after sales support would be five star. While buying my car and after, I received numerous people telling me on-site, in emails and phone calls that they needed 100% on the surveys I would receive (received two). Based on the purchase, I gave them 100% and now that I have experienced the lack of care and interest, after purchase from both service and sales, I would like to go back and redo the surveys.
It took 1 ½ months for the service department to get in two small parts for the warranty repair to the back seat of my new purchase. That install I feel only got done after going to the service manager after not receiving any calls, for the part installs.
When I purchased the car, I was told I would be given a $200 credit to my account. Last week I tried to verify that credit and order all season floor mats. I chatted with someone on chat, who said they would have someone check it and contact me. Almost one week and no one has called. Talked to the parts department who told me it was a sales issue and they would have the sales manager John contact me. That was also last week and no contact.
Seems you can’t expect any after sales support or service from Bannister Hyundai Kamloops so, I have found cheaper complete floor mats from another company other than Kamloops Hyundai. Goes without saying my next car will not be from Bannister Hyundai Kamloops.
I was very disappointed with our experience. We had our car delivered and it arrived with a very dirty interior. Thick mats of dog hair and a center console with tobacco in it, as seen in the photos. We were also promised a full tank of fuel on delivery, the tank was at half.
The communication throughout the delivery was also very poor. Not communicating their needs, as well as not acknowledging ours.
We trusted that a major dealership would handle basic details like this, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
When looking to buy a new vehicle, they were very helpful and attentive...until the paperwork was all signed. After that it was nearly impossible to get ahold of anyone. The finance guy told me direct lies. I would not recommend purchasing aftermarket parts (trailer hitch and roof racks) with the vehicle purchase. They use Cap-It (will also be leaving them a bad review) who would not give me any information about MY purchase. I never did find out the final amount from Cap-It OR Hyundai. Left me with a very bad feeling about both companies...I certainly will not be going back.

I was recently looking for a good used vehicle and went to Hyundai at the suggestion of a friend. I was greeted by Damian and from there dealt with Connor and Dan who are both sales reps. They were both very friendly but I dealt mostly with Dan Covell. He he was very friendly and attentive and treated me with respect. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a vehicle. I also dealt with Chris the finance person who was also very easy to deal with and Damian the sales manager who gave me a great deal on my vehicle. I drove away with a 2019 Equinox Premiere in very good condition. I am extremely happy with my purchase. Everyone I dealt with was great but I want to give huge kudos to Dan Covell for making my experience a very enjoyable stress-free one.
We are in Calgary, we met George Togias, we had a 2018 Kona, it was a bit small for us, George, way out in Kamloops is the friendliest man and the most helpful salesperson you’ll ever meet, our loan was quite high on the Kona, I thought I would just ask if there was a chance to upgrade, well he and Kade went to work, they got bad news from some banks, it came to where I said forget it, but NO, the two of them and the whole dealership would not give up, well to our great luck, they pulled a deal together, we traded the 2018 Kona in for a 2021 Mitsubishi RVR GT, they kept the payments the same, they took care of everything, the loan papers were all signed and it was a go, they got us some extended warranty on it, they detailed and cleaned it, then drove it from Kamloops to us in Calgary , leaving it clean and a full gas tank, today we got our out of province inspection, it passed 100%, everything PERFECT. So if anyone is in the market give George a call at Bannister in Kamloops, they’ll work their buns off to make you happy. Whenever we had questions and called, all the staff was so very courteous and so very helpful. We will definitely be back when it’s time to up grade again. We at no point felt pressured, which was a major factor in why we purchased the vehicle we did.
